Understanding K.I.T.T.

CarStrike's AI assistant

What K.I.T.T. is

K.I.T.T. is an artificial intelligence assistant on CarStrike's website. It answers questions about the vehicles and services on this website, using CarStrike's own stock and business details, and hands you over to a person whenever you want one.

What K.I.T.T. can do

  • Stock search

Find cars in the stock listed on this website by make, model, body type, fuel, price, year and kilometres — with the cars shown as cards you can open.

  • This car

K.I.T.T. knows which page you are on, so you can ask about "this car" while you look at it.

  • Rentals

Check which hire vehicles are available for your dates.

  • Live auction lots

Search upcoming Japanese auction lots shown on this website.

  • Importing from Japan

General answers about importing a vehicle from Japan, from our own knowledge base.

  • Our details

Opening hours, location, contact details and finance options.

  • A person when you need one

Ask for a person at any time; K.I.T.T. passes on what you have asked so far, or takes your details so the team can call you.

Limitations & accuracy

Like all AI systems, K.I.T.T. is not perfect. It can misunderstand a question, word an answer badly, or rely on details that have changed since they were published (a car may have just sold, or a price may have changed).

Important: K.I.T.T. provides general information only. It cannot confirm a vehicle's mechanical condition, verify its history, guarantee availability or a price, approve finance, or give legal, financial or compliance advice.

Please confirm every important detail — price, condition, availability, costs and any import or compliance question — with the CarStrike team before you make a decision or a payment. To the extent permitted by law, CARSTRIKE is not liable for any reliance placed on AI-generated answers. Nothing here limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Privacy & your data

  • AI assistant: When you chat with K.I.T.T., CarStrike's AI assistant, your messages and the page you are viewing (for example the car's stock number) are sent to our dealer management system, YardStrike, which looks up our stock and business details and uses an AI service to word the reply. K.I.T.T. only uses the stock and business details published on this website.
  • Chat logs: K.I.T.T. keeps the last messages of a conversation for 30 days to answer follow-up questions. Your session and IP address are stored only as scrambled (hashed) values. Email addresses and phone numbers are removed from its replies.
  • Voice: If you use the microphone, speech recognition is done by your web browser (some browsers, such as Chrome, send the audio to their maker's servers to turn it into text). We only receive the text, never the recording. Replies are spoken by your browser.
  • Talking to a person: If you ask for a person, the conversation (including a short summary from K.I.T.T. where applicable) is passed to CarStrike's team in our customer chat system, and kept there as a record of your enquiry.
  • Enquiries: If you leave your name and number in the chat, they become an enquiry in our dealer management system so the team can contact you.
  • Sensitive data: Please don't type or upload sensitive personal documents (such as a driver's licence or card numbers) into the chat. When we need to verify your identity, we will give you a secure way to do it.
