Privacy policy

Last updated: 30 October 2026

1. About this policy

CARSTRIKE trading as CarStrike (ABN 25 599 377 209 ) (“we”, “us”, “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and protect personal information through this website and when you buy, sell, rent or enquire about a vehicle with us, in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you deal with us, we may collect:

  • your name, phone number, email address and postal address;
  • the details of your enquiry, offer, test drive or vehicle of interest;
  • details and photos of a vehicle you want to sell or trade in (for example its make, model, kilometres, registration and condition);
  • driver's licence details, for test drives, vehicle purchases and rentals;
  • rental booking details (dates, drivers and the vehicle you hire);
  • financial information, such as your employment, residency and deposit, if you ask about finance;
  • the name (and optional email address) you give when you comment on an article — your email is never published;
  • the messages you send through the chat on this website;
  • technical information about your visit, such as pages viewed, your browser and an anonymised network address.

3. How we collect it

We collect information directly from you — through the forms on this website, by phone, email or chat, and in person. We may also receive it from third parties you ask us to deal with, such as a finance broker or insurer. You can browse this website without giving us any personal information.

4. How we use it

We use your information to:

  • answer your enquiries and arrange viewings and test drives;
  • value your car and make you an offer;
  • process vehicle sales, rentals and trade-ins;
  • help you apply for finance through our finance partners;
  • meet our legal obligations, including motor dealer and vehicle registration requirements;
  • send you service reminders and offers — you can opt out at any time.

5. Who we share it with

We disclose personal information only for the purpose it was collected (or a related purpose you would expect), or where the law requires or allows it. That can include finance brokers and lenders, insurers, warranty providers, government transport and registration authorities, and our professional advisers.

CarStrike lists vehicles from other dealers in the CarStrike network. When you enquire about, or reveal the contact details for, a car another dealer lists, we pass your enquiry to that dealer, who then handles your information under their own privacy policy.

We do not sell your personal information.

6. Visit records for enquiries

To see which listings people are interested in, and to credit the dealer whose car brought the enquiry, this website records anonymised interactions with vehicle listings: pages viewed, when contact details are revealed, clicks through to a dealer and enquiries sent. Each record holds the time, the page, the website that referred you (its address only, never the search terms), a shortened browser description, and one-way scrambled codes made from your network address and a random visit code kept only in this browser tab. We do not store your network address itself, and the codes can't be turned back into it.

These records aren't used for advertising and aren't shared outside CarStrike and the dealer whose car you looked at (counts and dates only, never your details unless you send them an enquiry). Search engine crawlers and automated tools are not recorded.

7. Our website and customer records platform

This website, its forms and our customer records run on YardStrike, a dealer management platform provided by CARSTRIKE (ABN 25 599 377 209). YardStrike stores and processes information on our behalf and only as we instruct. You can read how YardStrike handles information in the YardStrike privacy policy.

8. AI and chat processing

When you use K.I.T.T., the AI assistant on this website, we handle your information carefully:

  • Text questions are processed by the YardStrike platform to answer you about our stock and services.
  • Images you upload (for example an auction sheet or a photo of a vehicle) may be sent to a third-party AI provider solely to read and translate them.
  • Chat history — your conversation and any quotes it produces — is kept in our customer service system so our team can follow up.
  • Sensitive documents: please don't upload identity documents (such as a driver's licence) or card details into the chat. We will send you a secure link if we need to verify your identity.
  • AI answers can be wrong. Please confirm anything important with our team. See About K.I.T.T..

9. Cookies and analytics

This website uses cookies and similar technologies that are needed for it to work, and analytics tools (such as Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics) that help us understand how the site is used. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some parts of the site may not work without them.

10. Keeping your information secure

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure, and we destroy or de-identify it when we no longer need it. No transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

11. Access, correction and complaints

You can ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, using the contact details below. If you have a complaint about how we have handled your information, contact us first and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
