How the import cost calculator works

Importing a vehicle from Japan involves several fixed and variable costs. The calculator gives an estimate assuming a grade 4+ vehicle with under 100,000 km.

  • Shipping & transport: RoRo (roll-on/roll-off) shipping from Japan to the Port of Brisbane, plus truck transport to the dealership.
  • Compliance: the mandatory cost of making sure the vehicle meets the Australian Design Rules (ADR).
  • CarStrike service fee: covers auction bidding, inspection reviews in Japan, RAV entry approvals, TMR paperwork and a major service on arrival.
